My Journey: How I Built Sassy A Cosmetics from My Kitchen at 11

At just 11 years old, I had no idea my homemade lip gloss would one day become a full cosmetic line. It all started because of my younger sister, who struggled with dry, cracked lips, dark rings around her mouth, and eczema.
I watched my mother struggle to find something that worked every lip balm either smelled bad or burned her lips. My sister didn’t want to wear them. That’s when I decided: I would make something myself.
I wanted to create something that would heal her lips while also making them look popping at the same time something that worked and looked good.
That’s how Sassy A Cosmetics was born.
I’m Asia Dillon founder, CEO, and believer in dreams that start small but grow big. Growing up in a single-parent household in New Orleans, I watched my mom work hard and sacrifice for our future. That inspired me to pour my heart into this business not just to make money, but to build something real.
What started with a homemade gloss has grown into:
Natural lip glosses, lipsticks, balms, and handmade body/face glitter
A partnership with a trusted manufacturer to meet growing demand
Nearly 100 pop-up shops across New Orleans and beyond
My first retail partnerships with 1850 House and Glitter Box
Recognition from Fox 5, WDSU, and proclamations from Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Councilman Byron Lee
Selected as a Disney Dreamers Academy 2025 student representing young dreamers nationwide
Now at 18, I’m preparing to begin my first college semester at Suno University, and I plan to transfer to Southern University in Baton Rouge for my second semester. I’m continuing to grow Sassy A Cosmetics while investing in my education, my future, and the legacy I’m building for myself and my family.
One day, I don’t just want to sell at pop-ups or retail stores I want to see Sassy A Cosmetics on QVC, reaching women everywhere who deserve clean, bold beauty that makes them feel unstoppable.
And to every young person reading this especially those who come from a single-parent home like me I want you to know something:
Anything is possible. My mom is a single parent. She works a second job just to help me keep this dream alive. She believed in me, even when things were hard. And because of her I believe in myself.
It’s not easy. And it’s not always hard either. It’s just life.We all go through ups and downs, but what we can do is choose to work toward something better to plant seeds today so we can grow a future that looks like freedom, purpose, and peace.
This isn’t just makeup. It’s a mission. It’s about confidence, clean ingredients, and showing young girls what’s possible when you believe in yourself.
Thank you for being part of my journey. I’m just getting started 💕
